One of the main reason why Microsoft several type of Xbox 360 is power consumption,whereas lowest power consumption will generate less heat and finally will preventing xbox 360 have RRoD problem. Below is comparison power consumption between xbox 360 slim and all type of old xbox 360
Seems that xbox 360 slim consume only 75% than xbox 360 Jasper in idle mode and ~80% when playing Gears of Wars 2. This maybe because xbox 360 slim only use one chip (compare with old xbox 360 using two chips) leading xbox 360 slim consumes less power. This difference also make xbox 360 slim fan produce less noise as mentioned below
Power difference also make Microsoft have to redesign xbox 360 power supply and this make bad news for us as the new power brick isn’t compatible with the old Xbox 360s. At 135W it isn’t enough to power even the Jasper Xbox 360 and thus you get a new power connector. It’s much lighter than the old unit and a bit smaller, but still larger than anything you’d get with a notebook for obvious reasons.
Xbox 360 slim also have different shape with old xbox 360 but we hope this new power adapter is reliable enough
